Because the subscription is the whole business model, and we wanted it to stay that way. We don't sell your information, we don't take a cut from schools, and there's no sales call that ends with a $4,000 package. $14.99 a month is what it costs to run — one price, everything included.
There's also a practical reason. Every email you send goes to a real college coach, and free accounts are how outreach tools end up flooding coaches until nobody reads any of it. Paying keeps the volume honest — which protects the athletes using Skoutd more than it protects us.
